Writing a Congregational History

Archives for Congregations

For many, writing a congregaitonal history or creating a congregational  archives is a labor of love. Too often those engaging in these excercises lack either the training or resources to know how to do either. Both books are designed to help fill that gap and affordable at only $5.00 each. For those interested in preserving their church history, "Writing a Congregational History" and "Archives for Congregations" are guides to help you know where to start, what to consider before going forward, and where to obtain further help. Great for workshops.

The Historiographer

In the early 1960's under the leadership of Dr. Arthur Ben Chitty, the Church Historical Society (to become NEHA later) launched the Historiographical Newsletter that later became The Historiographer. This communication tool has helped NEHA define its role as an archival and historical professional society for those who participate in preserving and exploring the historical dimensions of the Episcopal Church. In 1999, the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church (HSEC) joined NEHA to co-sponsor The Historiographer.
